At Halal-N-Tayyib, we take great honor in providing high-quality, pasture-raised Halal chicken that not only meets your dietary and ethical standards but also ensures health benefits. Don’t just take our word for it—hear from our satisfied customers!

"The chicken's quality is outstanding, and the meat is very flavorful. My family member has been experiencing adverse reactions to supermarket chicken, yet they can eat chicken from Brother Rachid's farm without any issues. Please keep up the great work!" – M. Rama

If you have questions about our products or services, our FAQs section is here to help! We've compiled all the key information you need to make your experience with Halal-N-Tayyib as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Explore our FAQ section below to learn more!
When Are Your Chickens Available?
Our pasture-raised chicken shares are available year-round. We’re fortunate here in the South to have grass available throughout the seasons, even in winter!

What Breed of Chickens Do You Raise?
We raise two chicken breeds:
  • Cornish Cross Broilers are the standard in commercial poultry, known for their tender meat that’s perfect for grilling.
  • Kosher King Broilers are the elite in meat production, offering incredibly flavorful meat that excels in soups, stews, and grilling.

What's Inside a Chicken Share?
A share typically consists of an average of 40 lbs. of chicken cuts, though the final weight may vary based on the cutting method. Organs and feet are not included but can be added for an additional fee.

What Is the Cost of Your Chicken Flock Shares?
Our shares start at $300 per share, with a deposit of $150. We offer two share options: standard whole chickens or custom cuts, where you can specify how you’d like your chicken prepared. We also offer additional cutting options and extra organ meats for an additional fee.

What Is a Custom Cut?
A custom cut allows you to choose exactly how you'd like your chicken share to be cut. The cost varies based on the selected breed and cuts.

Why Are Your Chickens More Expensive?
You get what you pay for! Conventional chicken is cheap because it’s the result of a system that oppresses both workers and animals. Our pasture-raised chickens are raised in a humane, healthy environment, moved daily, fed well, and never treated with antibiotics or pharmaceuticals. The cost reflects the better lifestyle and higher quality of meat that comes with it.

How Do I Place an Order?
To place an order, simply secure it with a deposit online, give us a call, or send an email. We’ll confirm the available options, verify the chickens’ availability, and finalize your reservation with a non-refundable deposit, which will be deducted from your total balance.

What Is the Deposit For?
The deposit reserves your share for the upcoming slaughter date. The remaining balance will be due based on your breed and cut selections.

When Is the Second Payment Due?
The second payment is due when your order is ready for pickup at the farm/slaughterhouse or for local/airport delivery.

Is There a Discount for Picking Up the Share?
Yes, the Pick Up & Save Discount is already reflected in the price above.

What Does the All-In Pricing Include?
All-in pricing includes processing, custom butchering in a USDA-inspected facility, vacuum packaging, and labeling.

How to Get Your Order?
You can choose to pick up your order directly from the farm, have it delivered to your home, schedule a meeting at a specific pickup location, or opt for direct shipping. We prioritize environmentally friendly practices by consolidating deliveries and shipping meat in larger quantities, reducing waste from multiple small packages.

Is the Chicken Sold at Restaurant Depot Yours?
No, the chicken sold at Restaurant Depot and other Halal meat markets labeled "Halal and Tayyib wholesome chicken" is produced by Koch Foods, a large poultry processor. We are not affiliated with them. Our chickens are raised on our small family farm, hand-slaughtered, processed, and delivered straight to our meat CSA clients. Read our detailed Facebook post here.

How Do We Raise Our Meat Broilers?
We follow Joel Salatin's model for raising meat broilers, which are specifically bred for high meat yield and faster growth compared to egg-laying chickens. The process begins with acquiring chicks from an independent hatchery and raising them in a warm, protected brooder environment.

After 3 weeks, the chicks are transitioned to pasture and housed in portable shelters measuring 12 ft. x 10 ft. x 2 ft., designed by Joel Salatin. These shelters are moved daily to fresh grass, providing each bird with 60 square feet of pasture over the course of 5-6 weeks for Cornish Cross broilers, and 10-11 weeks for Kosher King birds. While the chickens consume 10-15% of their diet from forages, the green leaves they eat help promote their health and provide essential nutrients like Omega-3 fatty acids.

Depending on their breed, we process the broilers at 8-13 weeks. They are fed a non-GMO ration from a local Georgia feed mill, ensuring they are free from fecal particulates like factory-raised birds. Our broilers enjoy fresh air, natural sunlight, and small group housing to minimize stress.

Why Are Your Pastured Chickens Considered More Ethical?
Conventional, store-bought chickens are raised in overcrowded conditions, fed genetically modified grains, antibiotics, and even arsenic to combat unsanitary environments. These birds live their entire lives confined without sunlight, contributing to poor quality meat and skin. Pasture-raised chickens, on the other hand, roam freely, eating organic or non-GMO grains, bugs, grasses, and seeds, all while enjoying sunlight and fresh air. This results in healthier, stress-free birds with higher levels of Omega-3s, Vitamin A, and mineral-rich bones. Pasture-raised chicken is naturally more nutritious and ethical, providing you with healthier, higher-quality meat.
