Halal (حلال), an Arabic word meaning 'permissible', is used to describe food that is allowed according to Islamic law. In contrast, the term haram refers to food that is forbidden. Islam generally considers all food to be halal unless it is specifically prohibited in the Qur'an or hadith. Halal foods are those that are made, produced, manufactured, processed, and stored using equipment and utensils that have been cleaned according to Islamic law. They are also free from any components that Muslims are prohibited from consuming. At Halal-N-Tayyib, we adhere to Islamic values in every step of the process, from the way animals are raised and treated to how they are slaughtered and processed. We follow strict Islamic guidelines for hand-slaughtering, ensuring a dignified death for the animal. This includes using a sharpened knife to swiftly sever the jugular veins while uttering the name of Allah SWT. The animal is not allowed to see the blade, and other animals are kept away from witnessing the slaughter. Sufficient time is given for the soul to depart the body and for the majority of the blood to drain out of the veins before processing begins. Only when the animal has completely stopped moving can the processing commence.
