The Halal-N-Tayyib Family

A Legacy of Faith
& Healing

Our journey began as a dream—born from a family health crisis and brought to life through Allah's guidance. From depleted clay soil to a thriving homestead, discover the story of Amanah and the family behind your food.

The Founder

Our Personal Journey

Rachid, the founder of Halal-N-Tayyib, has traveled a remarkable path—from a small village in Morocco to a career as a math teacher and steward of the land in Macon, Georgia. His journey is defined by a deep commitment to education and a transformation toward a sustainable, faith-rooted lifestyle.

Together with his wife, Rachid began homesteading to provide pure, nourishing food for their children, who faced serious food allergies. The struggle to find genuinely Halal, hand-slaughtered, and Tayyib meat is what inspired them to step into the fields themselves.

"As newcomers to agriculture, we have faced various challenges but remain grateful for the blessings. We are eager to share our experiences and insights with our community."

Regenerative Healing

We believe that regeneratively grown local food contributes to healthier families and stronger communities. Our Tayyib meat is rich in essential nutrients, free from harmful additives, and sourced from animals raised on non-GMO pastures—honoring the environment and your health.

Our Homestead Story

“One is never closer to God than in the garden”

Our journey began with a dream—a vision of growing our own food in a way that aligned with our values of sustainability, purity, and self-sufficiency. With Allah’s help, that dream became a reality, though the road was not without challenges.

When we first started, the soil on our land was far from ideal. It was heavy, clay-like, and lacked the nutrients necessary for healthy plant growth. Water either pooled on the surface or drained too quickly. Despite our best efforts, our vegetables struggled to thrive.

After: Thriving, nutrient-rich soil and garden.

Our Journey Begins

Our path to Halal and Tayyib meats began with faith and family. Due to severe food allergies in our household, we struggled to find truly Halal, hand-slaughtered Zabiha meat that was also Tayyib (pure, ethical, wholesome).

We realized that to support our children’s healing, we needed more than just Halal—it had to be nutrient-dense, clean, and responsibly raised. That search proved difficult.

As we moved from an apartment to our new home, we discovered to our surprise that much of the land next to our home actually belonged to us—a less than acre deep forest lot that we started to turn into our own homestead. First, cutting trees to make room for a garden and laying chickens, and then ducks, and a few goats.

Embracing the Tayyib Lifestyle

With Allah’s guidance, we took tangible steps to change our lives:

  • Eliminated processed foods
  • Avoided pesticide-laden produce like the dirty dozen
  • Bought fresh, local fruits and vegetables
  • Sourced raw milk and eggs directly from trusted farms

The impact on our family’s health was immediate and profound.

We then began growing our own food using organic permaculture and regenerative gardening techniques inspired by Paul Gautschi. Our homestead yielded year-round fruits and vegetables, while chickens provided nutritious eggs and compost for the garden.

The Regenerative Shift

We discovered Paul Gautschi’s regenerative organic gardening method, emphasizing nature over conventional struggle. By covering the soil with thick woodchips and eliminating tilling, we allowed beneficial microbes, earthworms, and fungi to transform our depleted soil into a thriving, nutrient-rich environment.

From Garden to Grazing

The next challenge? Meat. Unsatisfied with the quality and lack of transparency in Halal markets, we stopped buying meat for over a year. Determined to find ethical alternatives, we raised our first flock of meat chickens in 2017 using Joel Salatin’s pasture-based model—daily rotations on fresh grass, supplemented with organic feed.

This experience has been a testament to patience, faith, and the power of working in harmony with nature. We are beyond grateful for the bounty we now have and are honored to share it, knowing that our food is grown in a way that regenerates the land for future generations.

"It is He who sends down rain from the sky: from it ye drink, and out of it grows the vegetation on which ye feed your cattle."

From Homestead to Healing Legacy

Our Tayyib journey began as a dream—brought to life by Allah’s guidance. Today, we are deeply grateful for the opportunity to share it with you. As our family thrived on homestead-raised food, our frustration with the conventional meat supply grew. Finding truly Tayyib meat—grass-fed, ethically raised, and hand-slaughtered Zabiha—proved impossible in Georgia and beyond. We were tired of the lack of transparency in traditional Halal stores.

We didn't start Halal-N-Tayyib just to sell meat. We started it to reclaim a sacred tradition of stewardship, health, and integrity that has been lost in the industrial age. Our journey began in a kitchen, not a farm. When our children were diagnosed with severe food allergies, we realized that the "Halal" meat available in grocery stores wasn't enough. It lacked the Tayyib—the purity, the nutrition, and the ethical foundation—that our family needed to thrive.

We went searching for farmers who respected the land and animals as much as we respected our faith. When we couldn't find them, we built the bridge ourselves. Today, Halal-N-Tayyib connects conscious families with independent Georgia farmers who share our commitment to Ihsan (Excellence).

Amanah (Trust)
We hold ourselves accountable to the Creator for how every animal is treated.

Shifa (Healing)
We believe clean, grass-fed meat is a source of medicine for the body.

"Healing the land that heals us."

Recognizing the need for self-sufficiency in slaughtering, Rachid learned to butcher lambs and goats right here on our homestead, and sometimes at partnering farms.

The biggest challenge was butchering a cow. However, with help from experienced friends, Rachid mastered this skill, Alhamdulillah. By 2015, we were processing grass-fed Black Angus and pasture-raised chickens for our family and friends. By 2018, partnering with like-minded local farmers, we raised 120 chickens and 7 cows. The demand for clean, ethical meat was undeniable.

From 2018 until 2020, while we searched for our own land, we rented a farm where we kept our cows and goats, and partnered with a farmer to raise chickens and lambs for us. In 2020, Allah (SWT) blessed us to purchase our own land—27 acres we named Healing Legacy. This gave us the space to raise more animals to meet the increasing local demand for our Tayyib meat.

In 2019, we officially started providing meat shares (such as half/quarter cow) and chicken shares to the community. In 2021, Rachid conducted the first Eid Qurbani for families from Middle Georgia and the Atlanta area.

Our Inspiration: Polyface Farm Visit (2022)

"Our philosophy is deeply inspired by the research of Dr. Weston A. Price. We believe that modern ailments are often the result of straying from traditional, pasture-based diets. By returning to regenerative grazing, we provide meat with the vitamin-rich fat and nutrient density that our ancestors relied on for vitality."

In 2022, we had the opportunity to visit Joel Salatin's farm, the farmer who inspired us, at his Polyface Farm in the Shenandoah Valley. Seeing his dedication to sustainable, ethical farming reaffirmed our mission.

Thus, Halal-N-Tayyib Meat Shares was born. Our first cow sold out in just 24 hours—proof that we were not alone in seeking integrity, purity, and connection to the divine in our food. In 2022, we also started shipping our meat shares nationwide via Delta Cargo to nearby airports for clients to pickup. In 2025, we opened our mobile farm store in Macon, GA, making our local, ethical meat accessible to even more families.

The Visionary: Meet Rachid

Founder & Farmer

As a Muslim farmer, I believe that the food we consume is a reflection of our spiritual health. My journey began with a simple question: Where can I find meat that is truly Tayyib? I was looking for meat that was not just slaughtered correctly, but raised with the dignity and purity that our faith demands.

"Our mission is to bridge the gap between the sunnah of ethical husbandry and the modern need for clean, nutrient-dense nutrition." — Rachid Chafyaay, Halal-N-Tayyib Meats Founder

Every animal on this farm is an Amanah—a trust from Allah. By focusing on regenerative grazing and soil health, we ensure that what reaches your table is full of barakah and free from the compromises of industrial farming.

Our Name: Halal-N-Tayyib

Our journey didn't just lead us to raise animals; it led us to a deeper understanding of what we put on our tables. The importance of Tayyib meat is often overlooked in favor of focusing solely on Zabiha Halal. However, Tayyib is just as essential and rooted in Islamic principles. Consuming Tayyib food is not just about healthier choices; it is a religious obligation that reflects our submission to Allah's design.

In Islam, the treatment, rearing, and welfare of animals, as well as their rights and the method of slaughter, are key considerations. The Quran mentions Tayyib alongside Halal, highlighting its importance, which is why our farm is named Halal-N-Tayyib.

"And eat of the things which Allah has provided for you, lawful (Halal) and good (Tayyib), and fear Allah in Whom you believe." (Qur'an 5:88)

"O mankind, eat from whatever is on earth [that is] lawful (Halal) and good (Tayyib) and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy." (Surat Al-Baqarah, Aya 168)

Our name, Halal-N-Tayyib (Halal and Tayyib, Halalan Tayyiban), is inspired by the Quran, where Allah (SWT) mentions both Halal and Tayyib together. At Halal-N-Tayyib, we bring you the purest, most ethical meat, rooted in the teachings of the Quran. This reflects our commitment to both standards. For us, this means:

Halal: We ensure a humane, stun-free, and hand-slaughtering process that respects the dignity of the animals.

Tayyib: Our animals are regeneratively raised on nutrient-dense pastures, free from hormones, antibiotics, steroids, vaccines, GMOs, and processed without additives or preservatives.

We believe in providing the highest form of care, from rearing to processing, so you can enjoy meat that aligns with your faith and values. Choose Halal-N-Tayyib for meat that’s not only lawful but also wholesome, ethical, and nourishing for you and your family.

Our Tayyib Mission

Our mission is simple yet powerful: To be a trusted source for authentic Halal and Tayyib meats—ensuring quality, transparency, and ethical stewardship from farm to table.

We’re reviving traditional Tayyib meat production and supporting regenerative farming to serve families across Georgia and beyond. Rooted in faith and Ihssan (excellence), our pasture-raised, grass-fed animals are hand-slaughtered Zabiha Halal, free from hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, and additives—honoring the animal's dignity, healing the land through rotational grazing, and delivering pure, wholesome nourishment for body, mind, and soul as Allah SWT intended.

Restoring excellence (Ihssan) in every step: ethical animal care and raising practices, sustainable agricultural methods, and authentic Halal processing. The demand for authentic Halal Tayyib meat is growing, and we are here to fulfill that need—not just for our community, but for the greater good of the world we share.

"At Halal-N-Tayyib, we go beyond Halal and strive to abide by Allah's commandments to enjoy that which is Tayyib as it is beneficial for us, the animals we consume, and the environment. Our goal is to reintroduce the concept of Tayyib to the meat industry in its purest form, directly from the farm, by fostering a community dedicated to consuming high-quality meat and backing local farms in a symbiotic relationship."— Rachid Chafyaay, Halal-N-Tayyib Meats Founder
