Beyond the kitchen, its purity makes it an excellent base for homemade "Tayyib" soaps and skin-healing salves.

Please Note: This is body fat, not tail fat (Liyah). Our sheep are lean-tailed breeds, making this fat perfect for general tallow rendering, but it is not a substitute for traditional fat-tail recipes.

Turning Fat into Liquid Gold

Rendering your own tallow is a simple way to embrace a zero-waste, "Tayyib" lifestyle. Follow these steps for the best results:

  • Chop or Grind: For the best yield, chop the cold fat into very small pieces or use a meat grinder.
  • Low & Slow: Place in a heavy-bottomed pot or slow cooker on the lowest heat setting. Add a splash of water to prevent scorching.
  • Strain: Once the fat has melted and the "cracklings" have turned golden-brown, strain through a fine-mesh sieve and cheesecloth into glass jars.
  • Store: Pure tallow is shelf-stable, but store in the fridge or freezer for long-term freshness.
