Please note that custom orders may require some lead time, and we will inform you about the available processing dates for confirmation. How Does It Work? At Halal-N-Tayyib Meats, we arrange cow shares year-round, but especially during the pick season. Once a cow share is filled, we process the said Black Angus steer or heifer cow (raised by us or by our partner farmer) on behalf of the cow share members. The total cost of our beef includes the price of the live cow in addition to the processing charges. When it’s time to slaughter your shared cow, we or our partner farmer will take the animal to the slaughter house for processing. The beef will hang (or age) for 10 to 14 days before the processor cuts the beef up according to your specifications. Don't worry, we will help you along the way as the arrangements and cutting instructions are taken care of! If you are interested in organ meats, please let us know prior to harvest so we can make those arrangements. You can complete your customized order for cutting up your beef using our online order form at the time of order. We will contact you shortly after the aging process to let you know when to pick your beef up and/or to arrange with us for home delivery! Cow Share Butchering and Processing The way your meat is butchered is just as important as how it is raised. Our cows are hand-slaughtered following strict Islamic guidelines which includes the right to a dignified death without stunning. This is better for the animals, and much less stressful for them. We are HMS Zabiha Halal certified so rest assured that your meat is Zabiha Halal. USDA inspection occurs through the process of harvesting, butchering, and packaging at our local small scale USDA Inspected Processing/Butchering slaughterhouse. The facility also follows strict standards when it comes to humanely handling and harvesting animals. Cow Share Cost The cost of your beef share is based on the hanging weight of the cow which is different for each animal. A whole cow costs $6.50 per hanging lb, a half costs $6.75 per hanging lb, and a quarter costs $7.00 per hanging lb. Processing, butchering, and packaging fees are included. The take home cost per pound ranges between $8.50 and $10.50 depending largely on how you cut your beef. The standard cut; which is the preferred cut by most of our clients; yields more meat and costs less per pound. Since we are small family owned and operated business, we focus on quality and not quantity. Unlike large scale corporate fed-lots, our grass-fed beef cattle are seasonal and not mass produced, so quantities are very limited. Make sure to place your order today! *Market Prices: Prices may change monthly due to changes in the market and can be verified at time of order. Cow Share Weight The exact number and weight of cuts will vary depending on the size of the animal and the size of the steaks and roasts. Generally, a standard beef share includes approximately 23 % Steaks, 47% Roasts & Misc Cuts, and 34% Ground Beef.

There are two ways to cut your beef: Standard Cut Bone-In (Popular): Our “Standard Cut” is the most requested cut and wrap instructions after fine tuning through years of working with our customers. It includes steaks cut to 1/2” inches (sirloin, rib, and t-bone), roasts (chuck, rump, shoulder, and sirloin tip), ground Beef (about 30% of the total amount of beef), boneless stew meat (about 10 %), cube steak, brisket stew, short ribs, and soup bones with meat. Our standard cut is so popular that many of our custom cut packages, our halves and wholes, go that route too. But if you have specific requests all of our Half beef and whole beef orders include custom cutting, that’s where you get to tell us exactly what you want, how thick, how many per package, etc... Custom Cut Bone-Out: Same cuts as the standard option with the exception of roasts since they can be processed into either extra ground beef and or stew meat. We provide our half beef and whole beef customers with customized cutting through our Butcher Cutting Instructions Form but lots of folks go with our standard cut too.
